Mixed martial arts career

Vänttinen began his career and compiled a 3–0 record in just over a year. He then joined Fight Festival in Finland. He was amongst the featured names at Fight Festival 22 whilst holding a 6–0 record, with 5 via submission. At Fight Festival 22, Vänttinen backed up his rising reputation, defeating Samir Bourekba via triangle choke in the third round.

. After 2:15 of the first round, M'Pumbu took Vänttinen down with relative ease, before transitioning to Vänttinen's back. M'Pumbu then locked in a rear naked choke for the victory, handing Vänttinen his first professional loss.

Vänttinen returned at M-1 Challenge 12 in the U.S. In the second round against Jason Jones, Vänttinen secured mount and landed multiple punches, before securing Jones' back. However, time ran out and Vänttinen only took the unanimous decision victory.

Vänttinen then fought UFC veteran Rodney Wallace

Vänttinen's final appearance in M-1 was at M-1 Challenge 17 - Korea against Emil Zahariev. Late in the third round, Vanttinen made his opponent submit to punches.

Outside of M-1, Vänttinen appeared for Fight Festival three times and for "Cage" twice, winning all five.
