Biography

Born in Palermo, Sicily in 1942, Marco Glaviano began his artistic career with a degree in architecture from the University of Palermo

. Glaviano began experimenting with photography after he had worked as a set designer and played in a jazz group. His mild experimentation with photography led to a full-time devotion to photography; and in 1967, he moved to Rome and Milan to pursue a career in photography. After working, as a photographer, for eight years, Glaviano moved onto featuring his work in European fashion magazines. Eventually, Glaviano brought his talent and work to the US and moved to New York in 1975.

Maco Glaviano’s most recent endeavors have been his establishment of Milano Studio in Milan to show case for the new digital photo Frontier with his partner Tommy Wirz. He has published to date ten books, five of which were created between 2005 and sixteen with the collaboration of friends and sponsor T.J Barrak. Giuseppe Cipriani and Artist Art Director Hady Sy, composed Glaviano’s personal photographs of the most famous models of the last decades and his other passions, such as jazz, portraits and landscapes. Glaviano also had nine solo exhibitions of his work, in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Milan, Palermo, and Capri. The most recent exhibition of over one hundred photographs opened in October 2010 at the Palazzo Morando Museum in Milan. His first solo show were of his drawings which were presented in Palermo in 1948 at the age of six. His artwork can be found in many important private collections worldwide. Marco has three daughters, Barbara, Alessia and Adrianna, and a best dog Mr. Bentley and is currently living and working between New York and Milan in collaboration with his sister and muse Adriana.
