to Ealing Broadway, with a very long Sunday only extension to Hampton Court. The Hampton Court section was cut back to Kew Green in the 1950s, and withdrawn completely at the end of the 1950s. The route then ran from Ealing Broadway to Palmers Green. In 1971, the route was cut to Finchley
Henly's Corner, and the Routemaster
s started service on the 112. In 1981, it was extended back to its original destination, Palmers Green. In 1987, the Monday-Friday evening and all day Sunday service was withdrawn, and a year later, the 112 was converted to single deckers. In 1994, the route was extended to Wood Green
. Severe traffic congestion on the North Circular has caused the route to be progressively shortened, so in 1996, the section between Brent Cross and Palmers Green had been completely withdrawn and replaced by the 232. Since that time, the 112 runs from Ealing Broadway to Brent Cross. In 2000, the Sunday service was re-introduced after a 13 years of absence.
For many years, the route was operated by Stonebridge Park (SE) garage. When the garage closed in 1981, operation was transferred to Cricklewood (W) garage. The route was offered to tender in 1988, when it passed to Atlas Bus at Palmers Green and Willesden
garages, using Leyland Lynx
. Altas Bus later closed and the allocation went to R & I Coaches at the North Acton
garage, using Optare Vecta
. R & I then merged with MTL London and renamed London Northern at Harlesden
garage, using the same buses. London Northern was later bought by Metroline
and was moved to Cricklewood (W) garage using Plaxton Pointer
s and Marshall Capital
s, and the allocation was then moved to the new Perivale
garage.
In 2005, Metroline
lost its contract for route 112. It transferred to Tellings-Golden Miller
, using East Lancs Spryte
buses. Telling-Golden Miller was then sold by Travel London
, and Travel London itself became defunct and was replaced by Abellio London. The route now uses Dennis Dart SLF 10.2m / Caetano Nimbus
buses.
