Biography

Jules Maidoff was born in New York City, in 1933. He grew up in the Bronx, the discendent of a Jewish family which had immigrated to the United States. He made his studies in painting at Cooper Union

 where he got his degree in 1956. Maidoff defines this period as the one of a Bronx emigrant in Manhattan. In 1956 and 1957 he went to Italy on a Fulbright

 grant and came back to do postgraduate studies at New York University in 1957-58. He held many exhibitions during this period and worked in graphic design and advertising. By the end of the 60's he returned to Tuscany, moving there definitely in 1973. Jules Maidoff was forty years old then and he was leaving behind his graphic design and commercial work to wholly dedicate himself to painting. In 1975 he is one of the founding members of the Studio Art centers International (SACI

) in Florence where he worked as a teacher and director. Up to today jules Maidoff has held more than 100 exhibitions worldwide.
