on 1 February 2010, on loan until the end of the 2009–10 season. He made just one appearance, as a late substitute in the 3–0 win against Newcastle United at Pride Park Stadium
on 9 February 2010, before Manchester City activated a recall clause in his contract and he returned to Eastlands
. On 1 July 2010, Vidal signed a new one-year contract with the club to run until summer 2011. Vidal made his senior debut for City in the League Cup

. Vidal was released by City in June 2011.
He was a late call up for the under-20 international friendly against Montenegro on 11 August 2009, setting up the first goal for Febian Brandy on 13 minutes, the team then went on to an impressive 5–0 victory, with Vidal completing the full 90 minutes.
