The examining body for manual practitioners is the Canadian Manual Osteopathy Examining Board (CMOEB) which states its purpose is "to establish and maintain uniform high standards of excellence in the manual osteopathy profession and education, primarily but not exclusively by preparing and administering to qualified applicants examinations of superior quality, whereby those legal agencies which govern the manual osteopathic practice within each province and other countries may accept, at their discretion, those individuals who have successfully completed any part of the examinations of CMOEB..." Manual osteopaths who succeed in passing the CMOEB exam are then permitted to join International Osteopathic Association (IOA) and receive a certificate of registration. At this time, no osteopathic associations in Ontario nor the osteopathy colleges in Canada are recognized or accredited by any regulatory authority.
