History

  • Pre"hounds below" (2008)
    The band was originally formed in 2008 after Stollsteimer wrote a group of songs dealing with his very recent separation from his high-school sweet heart of 13 years. He asked a group of close friends to come share the stage. After doing one and only show in 2008 playing under the name "jason and the hounds below", a gap of almost a year went by before changing the name of the band permanently to "the hounds below".

  • Formation (2009)
    The band reformed in the summer of 2009, when songwriter/singer Jason Stollsteimer decided to reform the group to play a different style of music than his other band, the Von Bondies
