Etymology
The district is named after its headquarters, the town of Hazaribagh. The name, Hazaribagh consists of two urdu words, hazar meaning "one thousand", and bagh meaning "garden" - so, the literal meaning of Hazaribagh is 'a city of one thousand gardens'.History
