He died on 22 March 2009, in Ahmedabad (Gujarat) after suffering from cancer for five years. People for Animals (PFA) Haryana Chairman Naresh Kadyan, representative of OIPA in India, announced a "Justice Guman Mal Lodha Memorial National Award" to the former Superintendent of Faridabad Polce Srikant Jhadav, IPS.
