1997 Fire and Rebuilding
In 1997, the park's grandstand was burnt down by arsonists. After much debate in Sanford as to whether or not to rebuild the park, the grandstand was rebuilt in 2003, largely due to the fundraising efforts of local businessman Jack Allen.
