 headquarters. It got its first mandal parishad seat when it was introduced in 1987 under the then chief minister N.T.Rama Rao. Dr.Hemanadha Rao Koppula was elected as the first Mandal president. He served his term from 1987 to 1992. Though a headquarters, it did not have its own mandal office building until 2005, then it was built by the then mandal parishat president Sri Mogali Subrahmanyam (Chitti Babu).
