History

Its 1950 population was 240 and has a school and a telephone and administered as part of a community of Trifyllia. In the origin of the older name, it had two origin, the first is believed to be named after a Turkish local leader Katsibali (Kacibal, Kacibali?), the second was named after a first gentleman of Theodoros Kolokotronis

After World War II and the Greek Civil War, its inhabitants left for other parts of the developed world especially (northern) North America. Though its population has been recovered from the 1950 level and residents from other villages and Filiatra settle in.
