Emperor Bing (1271 – March 19, 1279) was the last emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty of China. He was also known as Lord Perpetual-Nation (??? yongguo gong).
Born Zhào Bing to Emperor Duzong, he was the younger brother of his predecessor, Duanzong. He became Prince Xin in 1274. Two years later, he received the titles of Prince Guang and Prince Wei. He was enthroned at Gangzhou on May 10, 1278. His era name was Xiángxing.
In the History of the Song Empire compiled under the Mongol Prime Minister Toktoghan, Emperor Bing was said to have died at the Battle of Yamen in March 19, 1279. An official, who realized that all was lost, carried him and jumped into the sea in an act of defiance to the Mongol invaders near Mount Ya at the mouth of the West River. Alternative sources suggests that Lu Xiufu died with his own son whom he disguised to look like the emperor, and the real emperor Bing escaped with Grand Admiral Zhang Shijie's fleet across the sea and established
the Luzon Empire , the "Lesser Song Empire".
