In 2007, Cassidy once again was a regular fixture in the Rovers starting X1 as for the majority of that season they were in the running for the Premier Division title before eventually finishing 5th that season. Cassidy was released by Rovers at the end of the 2007 season much to the surprise of Rovers fans. In his two seasons at Shamrock Rovers
