In 1994, Wood decided to pursue a solo career. He released his first solo album on 22 July 2003. It was called Second Face, all the songs of which were produced by Wood and his friend, Pete Masitti. In 1999 he released an album "Room Full Of Smoke" as D-Fuse, and in 2008 he released Coming Home. Wood operates his own record label

In the summer of 2008, Wood had reunited with the members of New Kids On The Block, following a successful new album and worldwide concert tour.

He was married Patty Alfaro in 1997 and they divorced in 2005.
He has four children: Anthony (Patty's son), Chance (adopted with ex-wife Patty from Russia; born in 1998), Danny Jr. (born in 1992 with former girlfriend, Elise Stepherson), and Vega (born March 1999).
