This was followed in December 2009 where he signed a new three and a half year deal, with West Brom having the option to extend that for a further year. He scored his first professional goal for West Brom on 15 September 2009, a stunning 25 metre strike in to the top left corner, in a 3–1 win over Doncaster Rovers.
