History

In 1953, a fire destroyed the third floor of Belleville High School. The blaze began in a basement store room and swept to the second and third floors via a nearby ventilating shaft. No one was injured, but the second and third floors were damaged beyond use for the rest of the school year. The third floor has remained closed, class continues today on the first and second stories.

Construction goes on for the new Belleville High School just east of the building. Classes still go on. The new building will be done Summer 2012.

School Song

Other schools have always cheered for,

Their colors and the rest;

When they meet the mighty Belleville

We will show them why we're the best!

Rah! Rah!

We will back our fighting Tigers,

And no honor shall they lack;

As they win for Belleville High Schoo l .

And the orange and the black!

I graduated from Belleville High School in 1968 and know the School Song as:

Although Yale has always favored

The violets dark blue,

And the many sons of Harvard,

to the crimson rose are true.

We will hold our lilies forward,

No honor shall we lack,

For the Tigers are defenders

of the Orange and the Black!
