Bauer Humberside

Bauer Humberside is a local commercial digital radio
multiplex
in the United Kingdom, which serves the Humberside
area.
transmitter was going to be used instead of Cave Wold (a BT microwave
transmitter) when the licence was awarded in December 2000. EMAP
was the only bidder and was the owner of Viking FM (now owned by Bauer Radio).
There is a competing DAB multiplex - MXR Yorkshire
which broadcasts national DAB stations from the Belmont
and Cave Wold transmitters. MuxCo Lincolnshire
is also expected to use the Belmont
and the High Hunsley
transmitters when it eventually launches.
The multiplex was initially known as EMAP Humberside, but was renamed following the Bauer Media Group purchase of Emap's radio interests in 2007.
When the adoption of DAB radio
s in the local area reached 31%, a new transmitter was to be put on Trent View Flats in Scunthorpe
, but this never happened. Cave Wold is a BT transmitting site (YCVW). Bevan Flats also has Compass FM
on FM.
Most of these stations are also available on Bauer Leeds
& Bauer South Yorkshire
, though Viking FM and Magic are replaced by local stations Radio Aire (Leeds), Hallam FM
(South Yorkshire) and the relevant Magic
service for each area. It is expected that the three platforms would eventually be merged into a second regional licence.
