to co-extrude a UV-absorber on polycarbonate sheet in order to enhance the weatherability of polycarbonate for outdoor use.
This polycarbonate sheet is called Makrolife, both referring to the origin of the product (Makrolon polycarbonate, one of the two original resins) and the improvement: enhancing lifetime.
Co-extrusion is the preferred method today to enhance polycarbonate sheets. All major manufacturers of polycarbonate sheet use this technique now; where in the past some had used acrylic coating.

The co-extrusion technique is used for their other solid sheet products Griphen (PETG), and Atech (ABS), but also for Multiclear (multiwall) polycarbonate sheet production.

In 2002 they took over the Irish based Hostaglas PET extrusion plant, where the world's first PET sheet were extruded.
