Raijin returned to All Japan on June 22, 2008, but just three months later it was announced that he would be travelling back to North America, to compete for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, who had signed him to a contract. On October 11 Raijin lost to Suwama in his All Japan farewell match.

On September 13, 2009, Raijin made a one-night return to All Japan, teaming up with Great Muta in a winning effort against Suwama and Shuji Kondo

After Kawabata's original two–year contract with TNA expired, it was announced on September 28, 2010, that he had signed a two–year contract extension with the promotion. On the October 8, 2010, edition of Xplosion Kawabata returned without the Suicide gimmick, working as Kiyoshi and forming a new tag team with compatriot Okada
