, there are six "patrol zones" (more commonly known as just "zones") which lie under the jurisdiction of the Field Operations Division of the Atlanta Police Department

. These zones were created by the APD in order to better serve the city of Atlanta by increasing the effiency of Police patrols. As the Atlanta Police Department is the law enforcement agency of the city of Atlanta, the zones do not extend beyond the city limits.

Note that the zones described below do not reflect the plans announced by the APD in March 2011 to redraw the zones.
