Zimbalam was launched in 2009 by leading European distribution company, Believe Digital. Believe founder, Denis Ladegaillerie claims the service was launched; "as a direct answer to the needs expressed by artists to sell and promote their music whilst retaining complete control of their own release." in an article taken from the unsigned musician's bible The Unsigned Guide
