Plot

YuruYuri follows the everyday life of schoolgirls at a junior high school in Takaoka, Toyama

. The year before the series starts, Kyōko Toshinō and Yui Funami take over the former room of the school's Tea Ceremony Club to form the Amusement Club. When Kyōko and Yui's friend, Akari Akaza, enters their school, she immediately becomes part of the club. One of Akari's classmates, Chinatsu Yoshikawa, also ends up joining the club. Members of the student council often visit the club.

The Amusement club

Sometimes called "Akkarin", Akari is supposedly the main protagonist of the series. However, she is an ordinary person and often pales in comparison to the other characters, so she is often bantered with her small presence. Kyōko and Yui are her childhood friends, while Chinatsu, Sakurako and Himawari are her classmates.


An optimistic and selfish blonde girl who is the substantial main protagonist of the series. She is often causing Yui bother and crushing on Chinatsu. Despite her lazy attitude, she often gets high scores in tests after cram sessions and is also a talented dōjin

A cool-headed girl who often acts as the voice of reason. She is a reliable person and usually lives alone in an apartment complex, but actually feels lonely without anyone else around. Although generally quiet, she will sometimes burst into laughter upon hearing Ayano's puns. She likes playing video games.


A pink haired girl who originally wanted to join the tea ceremony club, but ended up joining the Amusement club instead. She is often chased after by Kyōko due to her resemblance to Mirakurun, though she herself has a passionate crush on Yui, so she is explained "" in a character introduction of the comic book. She acts cute especially in the presence of Yui, but she sometimes shows dark thoughts and terrible artistic skills.

As a hard studyist, she constantly sees herself as a rival to Kyōko who always manages to beat her in tests and always refers to her by her full name. She often makes puns on place names. She likes crème caramels.


As a member of student council, Chitose is almost always seen with Ayano. Though she has a gentle disposition, whenever she takes her glasses off, she has various yuri fantasies, almost always pairing Kyōko together with Ayano, which often leads to near-fatal nosebleeds. She speaks in soft Kansai dialect and likes tsukemono

A cheerful candidate for the student council vice-president next year. She has light brown hair and small breasts. She and Himawari are constantly arguing due to their competition relation from childhood, though they do seem to hold feelings for each other.


Another graceful candidate for the student council vice-president next year. She has blue hair and large breasts and always speaks in feminine and polite speech.


The current student council president who has very little presence and often speaks with in a whispery quiet voice that only a few people such as Nana can understand.

Character's families

A daughter of one of Yui's relatives. She is a fan of Mirakurun, though does not take kindly to Chinatsu after learning her personality doesn't match her image.


Chitose's twin sister, who looks identical to her except for eye colour, but has a completely different personality. Similar to Chitose, she takes off her glasses and fantasizes about pairing Chitose with Ayano, albeit she drools instead of having nosebleeds. She has a love for Chitose while she dislikes Kyōko. Because Kyōko constantly tries to play prank on her and looks a barrier between Chitose and Ayano in her eyes.

Akari's older sister who is an university student, and is 19 years old. She is secretly infatuated with Akari, often doing various perverted things with her belongings when she is not around.


Chinatsu's older sister who is secretly infatuated with Akane.


Himawari's younger sister who is 6 years old.


Sakurako's older sister who is 18 years old. She also has small breasts like Sakurako, but she is quite intelligent. She has an intimate girlfriend who shares a futon
