. The school was built and opened in the 1960s.

2008 closing

The school was closed on Friday July 18th 2008, after 44 years. The final ceremony included the lowering the school flag to the sound of the Last Post, played on the lone bugle of Mr Stuart Humphries and the release of over 800 balloons. Whitehaven News and Border TV were present.

Ehenside School, which also closed on the same day, and Wyndham are the basis for a new academy - West Lakes Academy, open on September 1st 2008. It is on the site of the old Wyndham, and is due to be fully completed by Easter 2012.
