. As the name implies, it is best known for its vineyards and production of wine. The Remstalkellerei (Rems Valley Winery), in the Beutelsbach neighborhood of Weinstadt, is a cooperative owned by the local growers and is the tenth-largest winery in Germany.

The town is composed of five districts which were formerly separate rural villages. They are Beutelsbach, Endersbach, Großheppach, Strümpfelbach, and Schnait. The five villages were combined to form the town of Weinstadt in 1975.
