The station went on the air as WSSW AM on 1000kHz on April 1, 2002 with Walhalla, South Carolina

. On April 18, 2002, the station changed its call sign to WSMW, on September 25, 2003 to WWOF, and on October 10, 2008 to the current WJTP.

On June 26, 2008, Tugart Properties, LLC sold WWOF to New Life Broadcasting and was cleared to move into the Atlanta market area on its new frequency 890 kHz. The station began broadcasting from its new facility in Lithia Springs, Georgia

In January 2011, the station seemed to be transmitting China News program, a China Radio International-produced general news and entertainment program in English and Chinese (both Mandarin and Cantonese) distributed by AIM Broadcasting (American International Media) in Palo Alto , California, targeting Chinese-Americans in the Atlanta area. China Radio International also airs over KGBC 1540 AM in the Houston, Texas area.
