. It was established December 13, 1909. Before 1935 it was known as the Rural Municipality Number 345 of Richland and then was absorbed into Loganton on October 16, 1909 and into Vanscoy on April 16, 1934. Vanscoy is served by the Vanscoy Police Service which consists of one officer and is in partnership with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police

As of the census in 2001, there were 2,617 people living in the RM of Vanscoy. It is part of the Saskatoon Regional Health Authority.
