- USS Northampton (CA-125) was a heavy cruiser laid down in 1944. Work on her was suspended in 1945 prior to launching. In 1948 work began to convert her into a command ship, and she was redesignated CLC-1. was a command ship (originally laid down as heavy cruiser CA-125) launched in 1951 which commissioned in 1953 and served until 1970.
