Reception

The album was panned by most critics, which is one of the reasons the British music press were shocked when it reached No. 1 on the UK album charts. However, today it is regarded as a "minor classic" by many reviewers, with Allmusic reviewer Dave Thompson saying that "The Top of the Pops crew was obviously doing something right".
