Top of the Pops, Volume 20
Encyclopedia
Top of the Pops, Volume 20 is an album released in 1971. This album was at No. 1 on the UK album charts for three weeks. The album consisted of covers of popular hits of the day, and is now regarded as "Classic" by collectors. Just a few weeks later, the rules for compilation of the British charts were changed, so that budget albums such as this could not make the top of the charts. The album has been re-released on CD and iTunes

Reception

Largely panned by critics when it was originally released, it is now considered to be a minor classic by many. Dave Thompson of Allmusic says in his review of the album that "Add an excellent take on Titanic's Latin-inflected "Sultana" stomper, a deliciously swampy "Witch Queen of New Orleans," and a genuinely courageous stab at "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," Joan Baez-style, and the album's success will surprise no one", and gave it 4/5.
