Born in Morocco, Laurent grew up in Belgium, lived in Luxembourg and is a New Zealand citizen and a permanent resident of Australia. She now lives in Port Louis

She studied watercolor in Luxembourg, drawing and painting in Belgium and completed her Diploma of Illustration and Cartooning in New Zealand with distinctions. Since 1998, she has been illustrating the Bible.
