Corporations recognized the value of a single provider for their critical construction projects. The company's name was shortened to The Haskell Company in 1978, when a new logo was unveiled and the phrase, “Architects/Engineers/Contractors” was added. Preston Haskell stated:

“(The tagline was) significant. This was the first time the company was identified as an integrated, in-house design-build firm practicing all three disciplines. It coincided with enactment by the Florida Legislature of legislation allowing the practice of architecture by a corporation.”

Haskell changed its internal organization in the 1990s to target market segments with the most potential.
They registered the phrase, “America’s Design-Build Leader” as a trademark and it replaced “Architects/Engineers/Contractors” on the company logo.

New leadership

Preston Haskell met Steve Halverson through their mutual affiliation with the Design-Build Institute of America, and was so impressed by him that he hired Halverson in 1999 to be his successor as President and CEO of The Haskell Company. Preston Haskell remained Chairman, but the operation of the firm was turned over to Halverson, who increased revenue by 74% during his first eight years. According to Preston Haskell: "He's doing awfully well."

Corporate responsibility

The company believes in giving back to the community; five percent of the company's profits are directed to charity each year. The corporate office building is made available to civic and other groups for evening meetings and special events. They also value their employees. New President Steve Halverson placed an increased emphasis on safety, which resulted in an incident (injury) rate of 0.28 in 2007, down from 3.15 in 1999. The standard norm for the industry was 6.1 in 2007.
