History

People believe the name Tarbha came from Tera Bhaya which means 13 brothers. In the Gauntia (ଗଁତିଆ) (Village Head) system there were thirteen brothers who were the Gauntia (Village Head) of this village. Later on this village was named as Terabhaya and than Tarbha/ Tarabha.

, Tarbha had a population of 7993. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Tarbha has an average literacy rate of 68%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 58%. In Tarbha, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Economy

This town had a mixture of different caste of people, having majority of population are goldsmith , brasssmith and weavers. Majority of the people here are either service holder or businessman. Most business man here are either Marwaris or weavers. The town is known for its silver, gold and brass works.

Meher people have a measure role to develop the economy growth of tarbha, because the main economy growth of tarbha for the Gold and Silver Business, And Khatri Meher, Satyanand Meher and some other popular meher were the gold and sliver market ladder at that time. Mahadeo Lal Agrawal (Madhu Sau), Madhu Meher, Kalakanu Agrawal, Birabara Sahu were the famous businessman at that time in Tarbha.

Tarbha is a Block, Police Station, Tahashil, Panchayat, N.A.C. (Firstly founded By Mr. Nathumal Agrawal, Chairman of Tarbha at that time) and is a heaven for businessmen. Though both Hindu and Muslim live here, they don't have any issue.

Tarbha is really a very good place for study. The town has a College named, A.E.S. College, Tarbha (Provides +2 (Both Science and Arts) and +3 (Only Arts)). The most influencing Institute is the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya,Tarbha which is situated in the middle of the town providing National Level studies to the JNV-Entrance selected students (Provides from 6th to 10th). The next is Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir, Tarbha' (Founded By Mr. Anand Prakash Agrawal) (Providing up to 10th Standard). Besides these there are two High Schools (One for Boys and Other for Girls), One English Medium School, 8 U.P. School. Education the mother of light. Culture

Tarbha is a sacred place for Muslims however Majority of population here are Hindus. All festivals were celebrated in a grand way. The Tarbha Rath Yatra is very famous in this locality. People of this small town are very crazy to pull the chariot of Sri Jagannath from Rathapara to Durgamandap.Here the annual festival is Nuakhai Parab, which is observed on the next day to Sri Ganesh chturthhi.
Tarbha has a rich culture. There are more than twenty temples in the small sacred town.
Tarbha is also famous for its one type of snack called Chaka Pithha.

Religious

Tarbha is a holy place for both Hindus and Muslims. Every people is celebrates their festival in peace. The major festivals being organized here are Nuakhai, Ratha Yatra (Very famous in the locality), Durga Puja, Ganesh Puja, Bishwakarma Puja.

In the Shravan Month according to the Hindu Calender, Many "Bolbam Bhaktas" come to the Lord Shiv Temple in order to fulfill their dreams.

In Tarbha Village a Holy Mohmeddans Saints. Tarbha is perhaps one of the few places in India where Hindus and Muslims have never fought between each other. Every one enjoys all festivals being organized there.
