It was here that in 1191 CE that the Hindu
army under Prithviraj Chauhan had defeated the invading army of Muhammad of Ghaur. The following year Ghauri invaded again and defeated Prithviraj's forces at this same site. A wall around the town is now in a dilapidated condition. A mosque and a tank, said to be the works of Aurangzeb
