In 2006, the Peace makers were rescued, except for an American Quaker hostage who was killed by the hostage takers. Along with the American, two Canadians and one British man were also kidnapped. Their release was orchestrated by the joint effort of the Canadian elite forces JTF-2 and British SAS, along with American Special Forces operatives.
