. Sutter Hospital opened on the site of Sutter General Hospital in 1923 as California's largest and most advanced hospital of the time. Currently, Sutter General Hospital is undergiong a top-to-bottom renovation and will emerge in 2012 as Ose Adams Medical Pavilion.

Sutter General Hospital is currently the home of the nationally recognized Sutter Orthopedic Institute, Sutter Neuroscience Insitute and Sutter Cancer Center.

Sutter Memorial Hospital

The 346-bed specialty medical center focuses on cardiovascular services, transplants, and women's and children's specialty services. Sutter Memorial Hosptial opened to the community in 1937 as Sutter Maternity Hospital. Sutter Memorial Hospital is known as Sacramento's Baby Hospital and has been the birthplace of more than 300,000 babies (more than any other facility in Sacramento). Sutter Memorial Hospital is slated to close when the Anderson Lucchetti Women's and Children's Center opens in 2012.

Currently Sutter Memorial Hospital is known as the home of the renowned Sutter Heart & Vascular Institute and Children's Center.
