. His real name was Syed Saeed ur Rehman, but he wrote under the takhallus (pen name/ nom de plume) of Suroor meaning exhilatration, often implying a state of 'making glad' such as that caused through inebriation.

He was also a film maker and made various films including Akhri Station.
