in April 1984. He was General Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress
during 1985-88 and was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha
in 1990 and thereafter continuously re-elected to the Upper House. He was the Minister of State at the Centre during 1995-96 for Defence Production and Supplies.
Suresh Pachouri was a Member of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Defence and was also nominated to the Panel of Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha
in 2000.
