Stuart has an older brother, Jim Manning.

It was announced on digitalspy on April 3, 2009, that he had decided to quit the soap after five years. He left the series in an emotional storyline that saw him kidnap his baby son Max and hold him ransom.

On November 12, 2009 it was announced on the digital spy website that Stuart would be taking part in series 9 of British reality TV series I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

He also told interviewers that he planned to start a film career in the USA in 2010. Manning said that he has been offered the help of ex-campmate, George Hamilton

Manning is currently appearing in the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich and Oldham Coliseum's production of A Passionate Woman.
