Personal life

Englebright has lived in Setauket, New York since 1973. He has two daughters, Christina Marie and Jennifer Lynn.

West Meadow Beach

In 1996, Englebright took measures to authorize 90 bungalows along West Meadow Beach in an effort to preserve green space in his assembly district. A court ruling in 1979 deemed that they were built on public land. After much heated debate, petitioning, and picketing, the cottages were condemned and demolished in 2004. The cottages had been recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places
