 in 1977 with a BSc in Physics and Astrophysics and obtained her PhD in Astrophysics at the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge University in 1983. Wyse later moved to the US to do postdoctoral work at Princeton University

 and the University of California Berkeley. Her work has primarily been in the fields of galactic formation, composition and evolution. Wyse is currently a professor in the physics and astronomy department at Johns Hopkins University
