). The club was formed in the early 1990s as Heywood Hockey Club
from various members of other clubs in the Greater Manchester
area. The Club merged with Cheatham Hill Hockey Club for a short while but then broke away again to gain independence after a few seasons.
In 2008 the club changed its name from Heywood Hockey Club
to Rochdale hockey club
due to the relocation of the clubs training and matches being played in Rochdale
and not Heywood
as in previous years.
In 2009 Rochdale Hockey club merged with Fearnes ladies hockey club to introduce a ladies team to the club. The club now consists of both a mens and ladies senior teams.
