 word rhyd ('ford': see also 'Rhydaman' or 'Ammanford', etc) and the stream 'Llafar' ('spoken', 'voiced') which flows nearby; thus the meaning could be rendered 'Ford on the (river) Llafar' with Llafar being a common name for stream
