Brown began taking acting and voiceover lessons at the Acting Studios Chicago, and soon began as a contributor for Fearless Radio, an on-line station, and as a host of Akira TV. Brown also emceed fashion and runway shows at local venues in Chicago, including the Galleria Marchetti and House of Blues. He also worked as a member of the WMAQ-TV

Had I been in the room I would have pulled him sooner. We have zero tolerance for racially insensitive jokes. As soon as I realized what was going on I rushed backstage and had him pulled." Brown disputed these claims at first, simply stating that he had "went over time," and that event organizers had praised his act following his performance.
