Geography and agriculture

Ramasamudram is situated in Chittoor District in the extreme southwest part of Andhra Pradesh, its vicinity to Karnataka.This small mandal headquarters has four towns nearby: Punganur (Andra Pradesh) is 16km to the east; Srinivasapuram (Karnataka) is 32 km to the west; Madanapalle (Andra Pradesh) is 30 km to the north; and Mulabagal (Karnataka) is 27 km away to the south.

Ramasamudram is surrounded by irrigation water tanks such as Ramasamudram Cheruvu, Agraharam Chervu and Naginnani Chervu. The local infrastructure is in good condition, thanks to the work of the political leaders and the elders of the village.

The climate is moderate throughout the year. The main crops grown are rice, finger millet

, sorghum, pearl millet, and vegetables like tomato, beetroot, cauliflower, cabbage, and eggplant; fresh vegetables have an access to the nearby markets in the cities of Bangalore and Chennai, which are both less than 200 km away. Groundnuts are also grown as a rain fed crop in this area. Mangoes are grown in small areas and some of the farmers are also into sericulture

Facilities

A government junior college is situated in Ramasamudram, which was donated by Sri.Reddivari Baba Reddy and family to encourage the poor to pursue higher education.
