Seed funding for QANTM, which was originally called QANTM Multimedia CMC (Co-operative Multimedia Centre), was provided by the Commonwealth Government under the Creative Nation Program for a period of three years. The founding CEO was Olaf Moon and Chairman was Les Riley from Channel 7 Brisbane.

The first offices were set up in the Brisbane suburb of Milton, with four Divisions including Silicon Studio, Youthworks, and indigenous group and a web development function.

In 2004 Qantm College was bought out by SAE Institute
