It is the biggest Mandal in Kadapa district
and very near to Badvel
.
And also the near by villagers grow vegetables (Green Chillis, Tomatoes, Leafy greens like Gongura, Thotakura etc.. ). And also the villagers make Dairy products like Ghee and "Junnu" and sell it in the town.
The Second major industry in this town is Brick making. Here the people make Millions of Bricks every year which is the largest in the district. Usually buyers from near by districts like Ongole, Kurnool also come and buy the bricks from this town for its quality and price. The red soil is very strong for the brick and the people make hand made low cost Bricks. The Brick kiln called in their local language as "Itukala Batti". "Ituka" is a telugu word for Brick and "Batti" for Kiln.
The first family who started making the bricks in this town is "Thammisetti" family around year 1965. Most of the local people call them as Batti family. One famous among them is Thammisetti Jayaramaiah locals call him as Batti Jayaram. He started his business in 1969 and still making Quality Bricks for the people of Porumamilla. Present one man came form this family for this business in 1998 and present he is the number one in this business he is Mr.Chandra (Chandraiah) he makes briks every year in a lakhs.
The other major business is Automobile. One can see hundreds of Tractors also John Deere equipment on the roads of this town. Tractors are mainly used for Agriculture and at Brick manufacturing places, to bring the clay and to transport the bricks.

The porumamilla was located in Badvel Constitution but politics are played from Porumamilla only in Badvel constitution 6 ExM.LA's and 1Present MLA as are there in this 5 members from Porumamilla only.
Freedom Fighter Vaddamani chidanandam won as Independent from Badvel segment in 1952 and 1962.He was constructed Sagileru Dam, now known as (Sri Vaddamani Chidanandam lower Sagileru Dam)
Dr.Vaddamani Shiva Rama Krishna Rao, Son of Freedom Fighter Sri.Vaddamani Chidanandham was followed the footsteps of his father and was elected to the Andhra Pradesh state assembly for two times in 1978 & 1989. He has a massive following in Porumamilla area, as he massively developed the Roads and other amenities.
Temples:
This temple is located in a village called Jyothi and this village is centrally located in the Nallamala Forest. It is a
beautiful ride to the temple in any season.
Rivers, Lakes:
This lake feeds lakhs of acres of agricultural Lands of Porumamilla and the nearby villages.
This Pond is mainly used for Ganesh Nimajjan every year.

The Major field of business in this town is Agriculture. This town is very famous for Sona Masoori Rice.
