Pakhral Rajput is a sub clan of Minhas Rajput. Pakhral Rajputs are the Most Dynamic Rulers in the History of the Indian sub-continent and they deservedly hold the dinstinction of being the hero of sub-continent. The founders of the city and state of Jammu and its rulers from ancient times to 1948. Ancestors of Pakhral Rajputs are mostly Hindus. In the early 18th and 19th centuries mostly Pakhral Rajputs embraced Islam and moved from Jaipur and Rajastan(India) to Kashmir and Pakistan. Punjab specially the area of Potohar and Azad jamu Kashmir is the origin of Pakhral Rajputs. Mirpur Azad jamu Kashmir and the Rawalpindi District mostly named as the area of Potohar is very famous as the area of Pakhral Rajputs. Raja is mostly used as a title in Pakhral Rajputs which is derived from the word Rajput. Still a number of Pakhral Rajputs are living proudly in many regions of Pakistan and India. Pakhral Rajputs have also contributed in the British and Pakistani armies. Raja Muhammad Akbar receive two Medals of Courage (Tamgha-e-Jurrat) in both 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. Raja Fazaldad Khan was also a brave officer in the British Army. (They both belonged to the village of Shohwa). These people are also known as Zamindar

Origin

When Kashmir was sold to Gulab Singh the descedants of Raja Jambu Lochan moved towards Azad Kashmir Pothar Khyber Pakhtwonkhaw and other areas it is said that they were in fact four brothers who moved from Kashmir to these areas (today these areas are Rawalpindi, Jehlum, Chakwal (Jandala Pakhral, Ghazial, Khokhar Rajgan and Saba Mohra), Azad Kashmir and some parts of Khyber Pakhtwonkhaw ). Some of the sons of these four brothers also moved to the modern day places Gujar Khan and Pakral Rajgan(Loona)Tehsil Khauta.

Genealogical family trees

This is a strong tradition that exists amongst the most distinguished of Rajputs of all faiths, the recording of family names and continuance of the family tree. Muslim Rajputs of prominence hold and continue to record their genealogical trees since their Hindu past even after their conversion to Islam, to the present day.Claimants of Rajput heritage will more than likely not have ancestral records of family lineage.Like other Rajputs The People Pakhral Tribe also give a great importance to their Family Tree.

Pakhral People are always Know for their Bravery and They have Been Contributing to British and Pakistan Army for a Long Time.
Raja Fazaldad Khan Represented Biritish Army in Both World War 1 and World War 2.Raja Muhammad Akbar won Medal of Courage in Both 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak war.Raja Muhammad Zaman,Raja Khuadad Khan,Raja Mehdhi Khan,Raja Mehar Khan and Numerous others have Been Representing Pakistan Army and Have won Medals for Their Family and have made the Clan Proud.Sub.Maj Raja Abdul Ghani (LATE) POW second world war of Khokhar Rajgan ,Khan Bahadur Capt.Raja Mehr Khan,Capt. Raja Abdul Hamid Khan,Raja Nazir Ahmed Khan BA Alig of Saba Mohra,S/M Raja Abdul Waheed of Pakhral Rajgan in Loona, Raja Fazal Hussain of Jandala Pakhral are some personalities of Teh Chakwal. Another name to mention here is of Brig. Sultan Ahmed, who was awarded Sitara e Jurat in the 1965 and again in 1971 Indo-Pak wars. He belonged to Village Moohri Rajgan Tehsil Gujarkhan.

Villages

A famous villages of the Pakhral clan is Shohwa (known in area as Karkan Shohwa)near Rawalpindi in union counsil Tariyah. Pakhrals are also settled in Suiyan Sharif Sehnsa Kotli (Azad) Kashmir.Dhoong is the heart of Pakhral Rajput. There are number of villages in Tehsil Gujar Khan [JAIRO RATIAL,DHOKE RAJGAN,GUJAR KHAN]and Dist Rawalpindi and some of them are known as Sahang,sagri( Sagar Khan a famous person belongs to Pakhral minhas rajput family),Karal Pakhral,sihala, Paagh,Pakhral Rajgan,Loona (Dhoke Pakhral Rajgan),Moori rajgan etc.Pakhral rajputs are also living with honour in the Distt Chakwal particularly in the Chakwal, Khokhar Rajgan, Saba Mohra, Jandala Pakhral and Ghazial are famous villages of Pakhral Rajputs.

Prominent personalities

  • Brig. Sultan Ahmed SJ&Bar Was a brave and Upright Son of Soil, Got Sitara-e-Jurrat in 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars, his legendary bravery was praised and apprecited in Times and Newsweek, He was the youngest and the most decorated Soldier, he had every chance of becoming the Cheif of Army Staff, but he was prematurely retired by Gen. Zia-ul-Haq due to his principle stand that Army should not indulge in politics and should only perform the professional duties. In Benazir's Regime he was offered reinstatement but he declined the offer. He was Commander JamalPur fortress in 1971 war, His reply to Indian Brig. H.S. Kler in 1971 war to his letter suggesting surrender was replied with a 7 mm Bullet and his reply is still cited for instilling bravery in young Pakistani Armed Forces Officers.
  • Raja Pervez Ashraf is A Member National Assembly from Pakistan Peoples Party and has Served as Minister of Water and Power but was removed from office due to his corrupt and incapable handling of ministerial affairs.
