Playing career

As player Znaroks was known for his leadership on and off the ice, tough playing style and scoring ability. He begun his professional playing career in Dinamo Riga. Later in his career Znaroks played mostly in Germany

, most notably for EHC Freiburg. Znaroks has played for Latvia and Soviet union internationally 50 and 9 games respectively.
Oļegs Znaroks is best remembered by Latvian hockey fans for scoring game tying goal against Switzerland in 1996 world championships B division, a goal that eventually brought Latvia into division A.

Coaching career

After finnishing his player career Znaroks served as coach for junior national teams for several years. In 2006 he was named as head coach of team Latvia. On 2008 he became HC MVD Moscow Oblast
