Closure of the PJS 2 toll plaza (Kuala Lumpur bound)

On Friday, 13 February 2009, the PJS 2 toll plaza for Kuala Lumpur bound traffic along the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) would be demolished primarily to ease the burden of residents of Taman Medan, Kampung Dato' Harun and nearby areas due to the none availability of an alternative route for the KL bound residents resulting from a reconfiguration of traffic flow in the area.

The NPE has 3 toll plazas located at Jalan PJS 5, PJS 2 and Pantai Dalam. Effective 14 February 2009, the PJS 2 toll plaza will no longer collect toll from NPE users heading towards the city.

PJS 2 toll plaza toll dispute

On 7 February 2009, About 50 people in Petaling Jaya South staged a peaceful rally at the New Pantai Expressway’s (NPE) PJS 2 toll plaza near Taman Medan here, demanding the NPE toll to be abolished as it was burdening the people, especially nearby residents. Acting Petaling Jaya South UMNO chief Raja Datuk Hanipuddin Raja Datuk Nong Chik said the residents had to spend an average of RM500 monthly on the toll.

“They have to pay RM1.60, even though their houses are located just 200m from the toll plaza. The toll charge is probably the highest in the Klang Valley,” he told.

The government has agreed to abolish the PJS 2 toll plaza from Seri Setia near Federal Highway heading towards Kuala Lumpur beginning 0001 hours 14 February 2009.
